KINTU
Kintu was born in the town of Soufriere but was educated in Choiseul, where he currently lives.
His music can best be described as gospel reggae but he is interested in other genres.
While attending the Choiseul Secondary School he developed a love for dancehall music, otherwise known as dub.
His favorite artist was “Lieutenant Stitchie” who he always looked upon as the king of dancehall.
At this time Kintu was active within the Catholic Church as an alter boy and sang in the church choir.
It was in the church where he developed his gift of singing. In 1991 he had his first public performance at a youth group concert held at the Choiseul Parish Hall.
After graduation he began singing with a Choiseul group called “Impulse.” In September of 1994 Kintu became a member of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force.
The following year he met up with a group from Castries called “Reggae Team” and performed at the Lyanola Reggae Explosion.
Also around this time Kintu began performing with Meshak and a Choiseul group called Wevolucion.
In 1999 Oasis Promotions and Black Heart Productions came with the Conscious Zion Train and Kintu began singing conscious reggae with them. Kintu has also performed with two of England’s top reggae artists, Sweetie Irie and Chukki Star at the Zone in Gros Islet.
Kintu has had numerous performances since this time and has released a CD single with three well known songs on it: “The Goodness of the Lord,” “If I Didn’t Know,” and “War.”
He is currently working on a 14 track gospel reggae album entitled “Footsteps.” For more information you can visit Kintu on Myspace.com: http://www.myspace.com/kintumusic
